Hi, I’m Judith!
and I’m so glad that you are here. I would love to help you achieve a more joyful, balanced, and fulfilling everyday life, using tools and techniques from around the world
I’m a researcher and author by profession, a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend by heart, and an eternal learner by passion.
For many years, I worked in academia as a researcher and I always enjoyed digging into topics and learning more about the way countries, cultures, and people from around the world function and think.
Originally from Germany, I developed a passion for traveling from a young age, being mesmerized when my father would come back from his business travels and tell us about far-away countries. During my life so far, I’ve had the chance to be able to visit almost 50 countries across five continents; and to live in nine of them. Each time I visited or lived in a country, I was impressed by one or several particular aspects of the country and its people.
In a world in which we are often flooded with negative headlines from around the world, it has become a mission of mine to pinpoint the positive sides that each country has to offer and to increase curiosity and appreciation for varying customs and values.
In June 2021 I published my first book Inspirations from Abroad for a Happier Life at Home, which deals in detail with the beautiful lessons that I learned from the nine countries that I once called home. And I love to continue my research on the beautiful things that we can learn from countries and people around the world.
How the quest for ‘Embracing the Positive’ started
During my profession as an academic researcher in the field of development studies, there were moments when I was about to lose faith in humanity. I researched and worked on issues related to poverty, vulnerability, inequality, and human rights and the violation thereof. And sometimes, the stories and issues I learned about left me heartbroken and so concerned that I had trouble switching off and seeing the positive in this world.
When I was pregnant with our second daughter, I reached a turning point. I had become used to watching the evening news that often reported about issues of concern around the world. And even though I consider it to be important to learn and act upon such issues, I also noticed that I needed to make an inner shift. A shift that would allow me to show our daughters not only what is not working in this world, but to also teach them about all the positive things that there are to learn and discover.
In addition, I often struggled with my new role as a mother of two little ones, and with managing a family household. This is not to say that I’m not extremely grateful for the lovely family I have. Yet, there were – and there still are – times when I experience feelings of overwhelm, frustration, and pure exhaustion.
When exchanging with friends from around the world, I noticed that many women (and also men!) experience these feelings at some point in their lives. My mom often lovingly tells me that this period, when having small kids and when trying to juggle family life, work-life, and your personal aspirations, is referred to as ‘the rush hour’ of life.
My research intention then became two-fold: on the one hand, I wanted to continue researching the beautiful lessons we can learn from countries, cultures, and people around the world – embracing the positive aspects. And on the other hand, I wanted to find out how some of these concepts, tools, and customs can enrich our everyday lives as well. For this, I started digging deeper into positive psychology tools and could observe how they relate to some of the customs and concepts I discovered.
And that’s exactly what I’d love to share with YOU
My aim is to share beautiful lessons that we can learn from around the world and that can help to make your everyday life more joyful, balanced, and fulfilling. So please come and join me on this special journey!
